    Job Responsibilities:

    The Sustainability Advisor assists in the development and execution of a broad-based, company-wide strategic sustainability initiative, integrating sustainability throughout the company. Sustainability Advisor ensures that the company’s sustainability effort enhances product performance and supports the short and long-term interests of the company, in continuing to be ‘our customer’s supplier of choice’, both for performance and transparency.


    • Support the company’s long-term sustainability vision, mission and operating principles as it relates to people, processes and products.
    • Respond to Sustainability requests from customers of MAPEI 
    • Collaborate with the companys internal groups (for example, procurement, R&D, Product Safety, EHS, plant management, marketing, Architectural/Sales) to collect appropriate data for preparation of third-party certifications.
    • Work closely with R&D/Product Safety Group in addressing requests for ingredient information in order to prepare ‘chemical transparency’ (HPDs, EPDs, MI, Cradle to Cradle and others).
    • Maintain communication with external agencies, departments and cross functional teams involved in environmental/sustainable practices.
    • Lead the interface with any and all government agencies and departments, domestic and international, relating to the company's responses to questions or statements of position on sustainability related matters.
    • In charge of on-going certifications, and re-certifications for both performance and sustainability.
    • Researches, evaluates and provides technical input on proposals and conducts evaluation, implementation and monitoring of approved sustainability programs.
    • Integrate sustainable development into our product lines.
    • Provides input to department business plans, initiatives, and budget to ensure continuous achievement of department goals as it relates to green certifications and compliance to sustainable practices.



    Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) or higher in science, sustainability, business or construction related degrees required.
    • 2 years of experience in manufacturing, construction, architecture, sustainability, or related field.
    • Strong background in product sustainability including at least two years of directly working with sustainability as it relates to manufactured products.
    • Strong background with sustainable building programs such as LEED, Green Globes, WELL Building, Living Building Challenge, etc.
    • Demonstrate a strong understanding of architectural as it relates to green building programs and sustainable design standards, modern building materials and methods.
    • Demonstrate a dedication to customer service by treating customers (internal/external) with respect, promoting a positive image of the Company, and striving to solve issues raised by customers in a timely manner.
    • Able to write and articulate technical concepts, related to both performance and sustainability in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
    • Requires the ability to work efficiently with a personal computer in a Windows environment. Use Microsoft Office Suite software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook as well as using the Internet.
