    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for commercial negotiations with raw materials suppliers for building construction raw materials; concrete, adhesives, mortars, grout, etc.
    • Develop for the defined portfolio the purchasing strategies, jointly agreed with Central Purchasing Department
    • Negotiate purchase conditions and contracts with vendors
    • Work closely with R&D to identify alternative solutions and stay abreast of market trends
    • Establish and keep communication with the local buyers and global commodity teams
    • Advise in timely manner on changes in product availability, price, quality, and other value factors
    • Conduct supplier audits followed by management reporting and proposition of corrective actions.
    • Provide timely resolution to supplier quality issues, follow up insure effective corrective actions occur
    • Request, manage and verify purchase requests and vendor set-up are setup up accurately
    • Provide reporting and analysis on internal KPI’s, industry data and supplier performance
    • Assist on budget preparation and definition
    • Support Accounts Payable on resolution of vendor payment issues.
    • Abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules and instructions.
    • Complete other tasks as assigned by Director of Purchasing


    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University
    • Two years relevant industry experience or a minimum of ten years combined related experience and/or training.
    • Demonstrate a sound understanding of industry standards  
    • Strong decision-making ability
    • High level of attention to detail
    • Maintain high standards of personal ethics, supporting MAPEI’s standards  
    • Must have working knowledge of MS Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Knowledge of IBM/AS400 or Dynamics AX, preferred not required

     Licensing or other Special Requirements

    • Availability to travel: 10-15%.
